(SPOT.ph) The Philippine National Police announced on Friday, July 29 that the next targets of their crackdown on illegal drugs are the high-end bars in the cities of Makati and Taguig.
Â
Senior Supt. Tomas Apolinario, head of the Southern Police District, told Manila Bulletin that they have already informed the owners and security managers of posh bars and clubs that they'll be conducting "random inspections." In fact, Apolinario explained that the bar and club owners have given special special security passes to operatives of the Philippine National Police (PNP). "(Our personnel) are there to observe and even use the comfort rooms because, as we all know, it is in the comfort rooms where the party drugs are being passed," he added.
Â
Apolinario likewise said in a report in The Standard that police personnel will also be deployed during events such as concerts. On-site PNP personnel will be equipped with drug testing kits. He pointed out that certain events are used as "venues of distribution of illegal drugs as these are usually attended by wealthy youth and celebrities."
