Tell your neighbors: A House bill banning karaoke after 10 p.m. has been filed
Our eardrums are grateful.
(SPOT.ph) The karaoke crackdown that President Rodrigo Duterte promised during his campaign is about to get real after Quezon Province Fourth District Rep. Angelina Tan filed House Bill 1035, which seeks to limit the use of videoke systems in public places from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m., the Inquirer reported.
Meanwhile, GMA News reported that the bill also prohibits the loud use of other home appliances in residential areas during the specified time. These include TVs, radios, and even musical instruments. If it becomes a law, violators will be asked to pay P1,000 and might spend up to six months in jail.
The president earlier said he wants to apply Davao City’s karaoke ban to the whole country, as well as a nationwide curfew for minors and a liquor ban.
