The Philippine passport has a fresh new look
There's also going to be a shorter processing time.
(SPOT.ph) The government has started issuing newly designed Philippine passports with updated security features since Monday, August 15. Department of Foreign Affairs spokesman Charles Jose said the new passport design has an overall patriotic theme which is intended to remind you of home, the Inquirer reported.
“Each page of the new e-passport contains the lines of the Philippine national anthem and features tourist destinations such as Mayon Volcano and [the] Banawe Rice Terraces,” he said.
Meanwhile, Communications Sec. Martin Andanar said among added security features include the use of intaglio or embossed printing methods and an embedded microchip which holds data. Andanar also said they plan on cutting down the processing time to five days, GMA News reported. Right now, regularly processed e-passports will set you back P950 while a seven-day alternative costs P1,200.
