Believe it or not, Duterte once considered priesthood
We know he's not a big fan of the Catholic Church.
(SPOT.ph) "I considered one time in my life being a priest," revealed President Rodrigo Duterte in a 50-minute speech before the Jesus the Anointed Church at the Pinnacle Hotel and Suites in Davao City on August 31.
"Mabuti na lang hindi ako nasali, ‘di ngayon naging bakla na ako," he immediately retorted.
We don't know yet if this is another joke from the president as he's known for being a staunch critic of the Catholic Church (and also known for retracting his statements). In his State of the Nation Address on July 25, he said: "...let me assure you that while I am a stickler for the principle of separation between church and state, I believe quite strongly that there should never be a separation between God and state. Prior to this, he blasted the Catholic Church for being "the most hypocritical institution" during a late-night news conference in Davao City on May 22. He once also claimed that he was molested in high school by a priest while studying at the Jesuit-run Ateneo de Davao University.
"I have nothing against my religion. My faith will...I believe in God. Fully. Pero itong...kasi it’s always the hell. Grade 1 ka pa, hell, hell, hell. So, matakot ka doon," he added in his speech in front of the religious group.
