Expect heavy traffic along Elliptical Road until September 25

Better stay home this weekend.

(SPOT.ph) The Department of Public Works and Highways has started with drainage improvement and pipe-laying projects along the Elliptical Road in Quezon City on September 20. It is expected to affect five inner lanes until Sunday, September 25.

"Ang pagtrabaho natin, di naman ito makakasagabal masyado sa traffic kasi magka-cut lang kami bukas ng concrete cutter. Then ang gagawin namin, every night lang kami magtrabaho every 10 p.m.," Director Melvin Navarro told GMA News TV's Balitanghali on Monday, September 19. The construction is scheduled from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.

"Tatlong gabi kami magtatrabaho. Isang araw lang sana pero dahil ayaw namin magka-traffic so gagawin lang namin sa off-peak. Two lanes lang gagawin namin," Navarro continued. Despite this, motorists are still advised to take alternate routes when going to EDSA, such as Visayas Avenue, Kalayaan Avenue, and the University of the Philippines.

A helicopter definitely sounds like a possible option these days.
