A bullet train in the Philippines? It could happen
More trains would really help.
(SPOT.ph) Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority chairman Martin Diño says that the president is looking to partner with China for establishing the first bullet train in the country, which would link Subic in Zambales and the Clark Air Base in Pampanga, the Manila Bulletin reported. Diño added that President Rodrigo Duterte would raise this during his trade mission to China from October 18 to 21. GMA News noted Diño as saying that if the bullet train project pushes through, it will be considered as a public-private partnership with a yet to be named Chinese firm.
In July, it was reported that the Department of Transportation was planning to construct a railway system that would connect Clark to Metro Manila in order to decongest the Ninoy Aquino International Airport. The bullet train project is yet another program of the Duterte administration to improve mass transportation as well as reduce overall traffic in the country.
