Why do people keep sharing the new PAL safety video?
Time to review your bucket list!
(SPOT.ph) If you're a frequent flyer, you may have memorized the flight attendant's spiel on the plane's safety procedures: where to find emergency exits, how to wear the life vests, and what to do in case of an emergency landing. It's all so routine that passengers just start dozing off or putting on their headphones when these things are announced before take-off.
But Philippine Airlines, the country's flag carrier, has produced a new video that's a little more likely to keep you awake. "We wanted to put a spin to our new in-flight safety video, while still being educational and entertaining," says Ria Domingo, VP of Marketing, aware that most passengers are distracted by their books and gadgets when the usual video is shown. "And ultimately go back to what Philippine Airlines stands for, which is the heart of the Filipino," she narrates in a behind-the-scenes clip.
The video starts with shots of several beautiful, must-see destinations found in the Philippines, including Luneta Park in Manila, Mt. Mayon in Legazpi, Coron in Busuanga, Dahilayan Adventure Park in Cagayan de Oro, Bangui Windmills in Laoag, Boracay in Aklan, Kawasan Falls in Cebu, Pearl Farm in Davao, and Chocolate Hills in Tagbilaran. Each safety reminder is explained by Filipinos from the country's different provinces, driving home the idea that this is made "from the Heart of the Filipino for the Filipino, and the world.” Towards the end of the clip, we see the names of the people involved in making this crowd-sourced content.
It was rolled out on February 17, 6 p.m. through Facebook and YouTube and has since earned more than a million views. The next time you're aboard a PAL flight, check off some of the must-see destinations from your bucket list!
