10 Useful Pieces of Advice on Landing Your First Job
From the ADMU Rantbox comments section.
(SPOT.ph) A recent entry on the ADMU Rantbox Facebook page has made millennials all over the Metro (or, at least all over the Internet) question their life choices. The post by an anonymous Ateneo graduate on August 28, 4:08 p.m. raised "real issues" like struggling to get "good jobs," trying to avoid BPOs ("I dont wanna work for some BPO though I'm so tempted already."), and overcoming unemployment. It basically begged concerned readers to "explain how to get a job in the fucking philippines [sic] that doesn't fucking involve having an uncle somewhere."
Despite sassy remarks on just how self-entitled this post was, the comments section wasn't selfish about giving away helpful tips. We were even reminded of that amazing 2012 graduation speech delivered by Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage. But just in case there are fresh grads out there who really need it, we round up really useful ones that would help not only recent graduates looking for their first job, but also 20-somethings in between companies.
Do those interviews with lots of enthusiasm.
Just hang in there.
Treat all jobs equally.
Accept that it's not always about from which school you're from.
Grab a book.
Learn some new skills.
Never give up.
What tips would you give this frustrated fresh grad?
