WATCH: Do You Know These Filipino Words?

What does maniniyot mean?

(SPOT.ph) Think you have a pretty good grasp of our country's native tongue? Then you have to check out this video by the Philippine Information Agency and the Komisyon ng Wikang Filipino and see how you fare. Released on August 5, the video features a group of Pinoys whose knowledge of uncommon Filipino words are put to the test.

Some unfamiliar Filipino words mentioned in the video were "alipawpaw" (which means "high above"), "butukan" (another word for store or "tindahan"), and "maniniyot" (or "photographer"). The video is just in time for Buwan ng Wika this August—and comes in handy for moments when you might want to impress someone with your extensive Filipino vocabulary!
