Iloilo Students Protest Against Imee Marcos
Her surprise appearance at a university ended up getting cancelled.
(SPOT.ph) On Saturday, September 8, Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos was proven wrong yet again when she said that millennials had already forgotten about and moved on from Martial Law.
According to a Facebook post, a conference hall at the Iloilo Science and Technology University in La Paz, Iloilo City was booked without any information on the event and the guest. To the school officials and students' surprise, a streamer was put up on Saturday, welcoming Marcos to the university. The post goes on to share that those from the university took down the streamer and picketed by the gate. Students from the University of the Philippines Visayas and other sectoral groups gathered at the university's gate in the afternoon to protest. Marcos was expected to arrive that day, but the event was apparently cancelled following the outcry.

The invitation was reportedly extended by the Iloilo Science and Technology University’s alumni. The reaction of the students and concerned groups thoroughly disproves the assertion that young people have no sense of history. Now if only a certain university would follow ISAT-U’s example, too.
