These Roads in Manila Will Be Closed This Weekend

To give way to activities in commemoration of the declaration of Martial Law.

(SPOT.ph) In anticipation of the protest march that will be held in commemoration of the declaration of Martial Law, the Metro Manila Development Authority released a traffic advisory for September 21 in Manila City. Several roads will be closed as various protest groups will be gathering all over Metro Manila and will march to Luneta Park at 4 p.m. for the Talakayan sa Mapayapang Paggunita ng Martial Law rally.

The following roads will be closed on Friday, September 21, from 6 a.m. onwards:

  • North and southbound lanes of Roxas Boulevard, from Katigbak to Pres. Quirino Avenue
  • Eastbound lane of T.M. Kalaw from Ma. Orosa to Taft Avenue
  • East and westbound lanes of T.M. Kalaw, from M.H Del Pilar to Roxas Boulevard

Motorists are advised to take the following alternate routes:

  • All vehicles coming from the northern part of Manila intending to utilize the stretch of Roxas Boulevard's southbound lane coming from Delpan Bridge-Pier Zone shall turn left to P. Burgos to point of destination.
  • All vehicles utilizing westbound lane of T.M. Kalaw going to Roxas Boulevard shall turn left to M.H. Del Pilar to point of destination.
  • Vehicles coming from Mabini Street utilizing eastbound lane of T.M. Kalaw going to Taft Avenue shall turn left to Ma. Orosa to point of destination.
  • Vehicles coming from southern part of Manila utilizing northbound lane of Roxas Boulevard shall turn right to Pres. Quirino Avenue to point of destination.

Additionally, the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) also released a traffic advisory for Sunday, September 23. This is to make way for the Alay Lakad Para sa Kabataan 2018 event. 

The following roads will be closed on Sunday, September 23, from 4 p.m. onwards:

  • Northbound and southbound lanes of Roxas Boulevard, from Anda Circle to P. Ocampo
  • P. Burgos, from Roxas Boulevard to Lagusnilad east and westbound
  • T.M. Kalaw, from Roxas Boulevard to M.H. del Pilar westbound
  • Finance Road, from P. Burgos to Taft Avenue, both lanes
  • Stretch of Ma. Orosa from P. Burgos to T.M. Kalaw, north and southbound lane
  • Westbound lane of Ayala Boulevard, from Romualdez to Taft Avenue

Motorists are advised to take the following alternate routes:

  • All vehicles coming from Romualdez intending to utilize the stretch of Ayala Boulevard shall go straight to N.A. Lopez, left to San Marino to point of destination.
  • All vehicles coming from the southern part of Manila intending to utilize the stretch of Roxas Boulevard northbound lane shall turn right to P. Ocampo, left to Taft Avenue.
  • All vehicles coming from northern part of Manila intending to utilize the stretch of Roxas Boulevard southbound lane coming from Delpan Bridge-Pier Zone shall take A. Soriano, go straight to Magallanes Drive, right to P. Burgos, straight to Lagusnilad (Taft Avenue) to point of destination.
  • All vehicles coming from Binondo (Jones Bridge) going to Intramuros area shall turn right to Magallanes Drive while vehicles coming from Sta. Cruz (McArthur Bridge) and Quiapo (Quezon Bridge) intending to proceed to Intramuros area shall turn right to Victoria Street to point of destination.
