LTFRB to Stop Accepting New TNVS Applications

The suspension is aimed at allowing the agency time to evaluate existing transport services.

( In a memorandum sent to the media on September 26, the Land Tranportation Franchising and Regulatory Board announced that they are declaring a moratorium on accepting new applications from transport network companies. According to a news report by Manila Bulletin, this is so that the board can focus on regulating the existing transport network companies (TNCs) and evaluate whether their accreditation should be renewed.

According to Memorandum Circular 2018-016, effective August 29, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) accredited six new TNCs in 2018, namely: Hype Transport Systems, Inc.; Go Lag, Inc.; iPara Technologies and Solutions Inc. (owner of the ride-sharing app OWTO); Hirna Mobility Solutions, Inc.; Micab Systems Corporation; and E-Pick Me Up, Inc. The applications of two prospective TNCs, Out-of-Town Cars Corporation and Mober Technology PTE Inc., have been denied by the board.

The LTFRB has not announced an end date for the moratorium.
