(SPOT.ph) In a spectacular turn of events, Special Assistant to the President Christopher “Bong” Go filed his candidacy for senator today at the Commission on Elections, with President Rodrigo Duterte himself accompanying Go as he submitted his certificate of candidacy. Go confirmed his bid for the senate with reporters at San Miguel Church an hour before he went to the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).
The news of his filing sent a ripple of shock throughout the Internet, given that people had absolutely no idea that he was going to run for public office at all. No one would have guessed at his intentions, because during his time as presidential aide, Go had simply been keeping his head down and fulfilling his duties quietly without any fanfare.
Campaign material of Bong Go all over the Philippine General Hospital today. What a shame! I’m calling on hospital and university officials to take these down immediately! pic.twitter.com/CS2F3hcNPR

His background is practically pristine, and his incredible skills and stellar record of service are so lauded that he apparently has supporters who are willing to splurge on posters and billboards bearing his name and have them plastered throughout the country.

Consistent with him being a man of simple tastes, even his filing of his certificate of candidacy today was very low-key.
We suppose he'll now be putting to good use all the pun-rich slogans that his remarkably thoughtful and well-prepared supporters had so helpfully provided for the past year.
