Driving to Batangas From Cavite Is Now Easier With This New Bridge

(SPOT.ph) With so many Disney-related things around Manila right now, we wouldn't be surprised if you've been wanting to check out Fantasy World, an abandoned theme park in Lemery, Batangas meant to mirror Disneyland. Traveling to Lemery from Tagaytay City is now made easier thanks to the reopening of the Diokno Bridge (formerly known as Tagaytay-Junction–Calaca-Lemery Road) in Batangas on November 13, as announced by the Department of Public Works and Highways.

According to Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar, the reconstructed bridge will lessen travel time from Tagaytay to Lemery by 30 to 45 minutes. If you've been planning that vacation in Tagaytay, then you might consider expanding your travel itinerary all the way to Lemery now. With the bridge's reopening, you no longer have to go through longer routes along the Tagaytay-Nasugbu Road and Palico-Balayan-Batangas Road.

The bridge was closed due to road slips and damage incurred during heavy rains in 2016. Reconstruction began in the first quarter of 2017 with an allocated budget of P86.3 million. Villar said the reopening of the bridge will be helpful with the influx of tourists expected to visit Tagaytay in Cavite City and Calaca and Lemery in Batangas for the holidays.
