LOOK: The LRT-1 Christmas Train Is All Dressed Up for the Holidays
All aboard the Polar Express!
(SPOT.ph) To give commuters something festive to look forward to amidst their daily rush-hour troubles, the Light Rail Manila Corporation brings back the LRT-1 Christmas Train. Decorating one of the otherwise dull trains with garlands and green-colored ornaments, this merry treat has been making trips since November 30. No need to worry if you haven’t chanced upon it yet: The Christmas Train will be operating for the whole month of December.
The Christmas Train was launched together with the unveiling of a Christmas tree in Liwasang Bonifacio. The 50-foot tree is made of steel from—you guessed it—old light rail vehicles. With the theme “Kabayanihan sa Kapaskuhan,” the Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) transformed Liwasang Bonifacio into a Christmas park.
“This Yuletide season, LRMC wants to underscore the value of Filipino heroism, and its rich culture and arts as it brings Christmas to Manila,” LRMC President and CEO Juan Alfonso says. “We hope to spark heroism in each other and bring hope of peace and fraternity, especially at Christmas time.”
