This New Instagram Feature Lets You Use Your Phone Like a Walkie-Talkie
"YAS QUEEN" your way into those DMs!
(SPOT.ph) Whether it's to tell your friend that they're slaying that new #OOTD shot or to rave about the pancakes you just spent 10 minutes taking photos of, you'll probably be glad to know that Instagram just added a feature that lets you send voice clips through Direct Messages.
Starting today, you can send voice messages in Direct. Talk the way you want to be heard, whether by whispering what you’re up to or shouting a compliment. pic.twitter.com/3rkdQneNXO— Instagram (@instagram) December 10, 2018
Similar to Facebook's other platforms like Messenger and WhatsApp, you can now send audio clips in any Instagram Direct thread by holding down the newly added microphone button, similar to how you would use walkie-talkies back in the day. You can record up to one minute of audio and release your finger to send it. The message will appear as a "sound wave" that can be played.
This feature was introduced in the app's latest update on December 3, rolling out on both Android and iOS. Another recently introduced feature was the addition of the Close Friends List, which allows users to curate a list of followers and keep those that aren't included from viewing some of their Stories.
