Get Ready: We're In for Another Rainy Weekend
Tropical depression "Usman" will bring rain and thunder in the Visayas.
(SPOT.ph) The holidays have been a little rainy due to the northeast monsoon affecting Luzon, but we might just have to brace ourselves for more rain and thunder as tropical depression "Usman" is expected to make landfall on Friday, December 28, according to the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomcal Services Administration.
The weather bureau says the tropical depression is likely to affect the provinces in Eastern Visayas and Northern Caraga tonight or tomorrow, December 27, where a Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 1 might be raised. Moderate to heavy rains might also affect Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands, which could trigger floodings and landslides in the area. Those residing in low-lying and mountainous areas are advised to take caution.
As of writing, Usman was recorded to have sustained winds of up to 65 kph. It's expected to intensify into a tropical storm before the projected landfall and weaken again after it hits land, the weather agency said. It was last seen 775 km east of Hinatua, Surigao del Sur.
