Here's Why Your Instagram Feed May Have Been Weird Yesterday
Before the update was (thankfully) reverted.
(SPOT.ph) For a lot of people, scrolling through their Instagram feed first thing in the morning is practically a habit. Imagine the surprise of many when the app's new update rolled out, replacing vertical scrolling with a horizontal, tap-to-see-next interface for everyone's feed. (Hint: It did not go well.)
After receiving online backlash from Instagram users on Twitter, the design change was reversed by Instagram developers.
We all know how bugs work, Instagram, and I have yet to meet one that explained what it was up to and why it was there. #instagramupdate pic.twitter.com/8YOtLJrudq

Before the revert, the updated feed employed the same interface used when viewing Instagram stories. Folks behind the Facebook-owned mobile app apologized for the design change and blamed it on a "bug," although some users remain skeptical.
That was supposed to be a very small test that went broad by accident. Should be fixed now. If you're still seeing it simply restart the app. Happy holidays! ????

Adam Mosseri, who heads Instagram for Facebook, says the update was made "by accident."Â
Instagram users were glad to see the revert, but as expected, they're not letting the issue pass without a few snarky tweets and (accurate) GIFs!

It's hard to tell whether the design change really was accidental or not. In any case, at least it's back to the vertical scrolling interface we all know and love. Happy scrolling!
