(SPOT.ph) Respected tycoon and founder of SM, Henry Sy Sr., passed away on Saturday, January 19, according to a statement released by SM’s Chief Operating Officer, Steven Tan.
“With deep sadness, I would like to inform the group that our beloved Chairman Tatang, Mr. Henry Sy Sr, passed away peacefully in his sleep early Saturday morning. Please pray for the eternal repose of his soul," the statement said, according to a report by ABS-CBN News.
"It is with sadness to announce my father, Henry Sy Sr., passed away peacefully in his sleep early Saturday morning," his son Hans Sy also said, according to Town&Country Philippines.
The retail magnate, 94, was named by Forbes as the richest man in Southeast Asia, with a net worth of $20 billion.
