(SPOT.ph) Filipinos have a penchant for urban legends and stories. You might even recall your grandparents telling you about the ones popular from their time, like the lady-in-white along Balete Drive, or the tiktik and kapre in provinces, scaring you off as a kid to get you to listen to them. Perhaps it's these imaginative stories that brought about the curious tales shared by users under the hashtag #ManilaEncounters on Twitter.
Although the hashtag was first used by Twitter user @bjrecio on February 24 as a "random table for RPGs set in fantasy Metro Manila" or random encounter tables, a term used by RPG enthusiasts to tell stories in a particular setting, it only took off a day later with more people sharing their own "encounters" in Manila, banking on uniquely Filipino experiences that make the posts more relatable and, of course, scarier.
