Here's How to Turn On Messenger's New Dark Mode
Know anyone who's over the moon with this update?
(SPOT.ph) It's only been a month since Facebook rolled out its new look for its messaging app, featuring big fonts and adding gradient chat colors that people can customize their conversations with. Though many reacted to the abrupt makeover back when it was first released, Messenger's newest update is a little less in-your-face: You can now set the app to dark mode—but only after sending a moon emoji to someone!
Once the app has been updated on your phone, a notification saying you've discovered dark mode will appear the first time you send a moon emoji to any message thread, prompting you to turn it on. After "discovering" dark mode, it will appear under the app's settings and you can freely toggle it on and off, so you can enjoy chatting without straining your eyes as much—or draining your battery too quickly.
The recent updates on Messenger were made according to Facebook's goal to simplify the app without removing the features that users love.
