Yay or Nay: DeviantArt Gets a Modern Visual Upgrade

The site has been around since 2000.

(SPOT.ph) DeviantArt has been around since 2000, and over the years, it has evolved as more than just an art-sharing site. It has fostered creatives for years now, giving them ways to share their works and reach out to fellow artists. The site has gone through 10 versions in the course of almost two decades, but none of the redesigns were as drastic as this. Aptly named Eclipse, the new design is rolling out to users now. It features a light and dark theme, along with customizable settings giving users free reign on how they want their profile to look through widgets and a large header photo.

To make it easier for users to navigate through the site, DeviantArt has also changed the way deviations (the site's term for user submissions) are viewed, along with an expanded search functionality that groups commissions, polls, and tags together.

The visual upgrade follows Wix's acquisition of the site. Since it started rolling out, users have been divided over the redesign. While some seem to be looking forward to Eclipse, others are not so enthusiastic. Thankfully, users have the option not to update if they want to stick to the older layout.
