Transport Terminals Now Required to Provide Better Facilities
Free WiFi and better restrooms included!
(SPOT.ph) If you normally take public transportation to get away from the city, be it for travel, work, or family, then you know just how much, well, love and care our terminals and rest areas lack. Every station is an adventure in itself, but with a new law that was just passed, we can depend on at least a few things to ease our journey. President Rodrigo Duterte signed into law RA 11311, or An Act to Improve Land Transportation Terminals, Stations, Stops, Rest Areas and Roll-on/Roll-off Terminals on June 19, reported Inquirer.net.
Under this new mandate, terminals, stations, rest areas, and other transport hubs will be required to provide basic needs for free to all passengers. More specifically, this includes WiFi, access to restrooms, and a lactation station.
The next time you're at a station and hurriedly digging through your coin purse for payment to get into the restroom, just remember this law also states that passengers merely have to show their ticket to use their facilites. A caveat: This does not apply to "deluxe sanitary facilities that are operated solely for commercial purposes," states section five of the act.
No worries as section four also defines certain standards for sanitary facilities, which at the very least must have running water, a flush system, a toilet seat with cover, and even toilet paper! So unless that "deluxe" bathroom has a golden toilet, we're guessing the free one would be good enough.
