(SPOT.ph)Â You know how the Internet can sometimes introduce you to the oddest, most unexpected finds? We're pretty sure this falls under that category: lately we've been seeing this a lot on our feeds:Â the Squatty Potty. The toilet stool isn't exactly new, but people seem to be discovering its wonders and have gone as far as to describe it as life-changing, so we had to, well, dig around for more about it.Â
The tool, available online for P1,499, is supposedly designed to improve your bowel movements by putting the body in a squat-like position while sitting on the toilet. Anatomically speaking, humans were built to...er, unload whilst squatting. This position allows the muscles in your excretory system to relax, ensuring a quick and comfortable anchor drop.
TIME has reported that a study was conducted to see just how effective the Squatty Potty is at improving bowel movements while you're in the loo. According to the study, 90% of the people who used it strained less while 71% had faster bowel movements. To add to that, fewer people felt like they still had to return to the toilet to finish their business.Â
If you do decide to pick one up and see the effects yourself, all you have to do is place the stool (pun intended) in front of your toilet so you can situate your feet right on top like so:
