Reminder From the National Police: Make Way for SEA Games Convoys

(SPOT.ph) Not even the athletes participating in the 2019 South East Asian Games are safe from the Metro's infamous traffic, it seems. With the event only a few days away, the Philippine National Police has urged motorists to make way for convoys of the South East Asian (SEA) Games. So the next time you spot an official convoy carrying athletes on the road, you may want to give them a bit of space (if there is any, that is)—they've got enough troubles already. 

"Kapag [ang mga convoy] ay gumagalaw na, lalo na sa mga maliliit lamang na daanan, may tendency talaga na maipit," said Bernard Banac, spokesperson for the Philippine National Police (PNP) in an interview on DZMM. This comes after Thailand's football team had to cancel a training session due to traffic. "'Pag napansin natin na nariyan na ang convoy, pagbigyan na lang natin," added Banac.

Around 1,500 visitors are now in the country to participate in the SEA Games, noted Banac. The events will be taking place in several locations both in and out of the Metro, such as the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila and the New Clark City Sports Hub in Capas, Tarlac. The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority has already put in several traffic schemes, but we've got our fingers crossed everything works out smoothly.
