SLEX Was Intense Again This Morning; Here's Why
You know it's extra bad when it's trending on Twitter.
(SPOT.ph) It's pretty much a cliché at this point but yup, motorists were once again greeted by intense traffic along the South Luzon Expressway on the morning of Thursday, February 6. Southbound folks spent the early part of their day in a slow crawl all the way from Nichols up to Alabang area—and probably way past that point, too—as authorities reported an incident near the Kawasaki Alabang Factory Store.
Although it wasn't clarified what kind of "incident" caused the congestion, the official South Luzon Expressway Twitter account reported it cleared as of 6:47 a.m. Unfortunately, it appears the traffic didn't magically go away as people took to Twitter to express all their feelings about the former expressway, causing "SLEX" to trend online for most of the morning.
South folks are gearing up for continued congestion as the Skyway extension project goes into full swing with construction. Authorities have also moved the new schedule of the Alabang-Zapote Skyway northbound ramp—which will be open only from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. on weekdays—to begin on February 16 instead of February 1.
Ongoing roadwork on the Skyway will extend the elevated tollway to the Susana Heights area. Deadline for the project is set for December 2020; fingers crossed the wait will be worth it!
