Cainta Mayor Raises P132,000 for Residents By Auctioning Shoes
And it's only the first day of what will be a daily sale!
(SPOT.ph) We know you love your sneakers, so you may want to check this out. Mayor Johnielle Keith "Kit" Pasion Nieto of Cainta, Rizal will be holding a daily auction of shoes online to raise funds for residents of the municipality—and he's made P132,000 on the first day alone. The money will be used to augment the Social Amelioration Program of the government.
The mayor raised more than a hundred thousand by selling three pairs of sneakers, two of which were old gifts. "Magpapa-auction uli ako ng tatlong pares ng sapatos bukas at araw-araw hanggang sa matapos ang quarantine o hanggang maubos ang koleksyon ko... kung sino ang unang sumuko," added the mayor in his caption.
In an earlier post, the mayor noted that the allocation given to Cainta for the Social Amelioration Program could not cover all 320,000 or so residents. "Naisip kong mag-auction ng ilang gamit ko tapos 'yong proceeds bigay ko sa mga hindi na-cover," said Nieto.Â
Around P335 million worth of aid has been distributed to beneficiaries, as of April 12, according to a report by the Philippine News Agency. But it seems local government authorities have found ways to augment the much-needed funds. You may want to keep tabs on the Cainta mayor's Facebook page for the next round of selling!
