It's Official: Gyms, Internet Shops, More Grooming Services to Reopen
Under certain conditions, says the DTI.
(SPOT.ph) More shops have been given the green light to operate under a general community quarantine. Gyms, internet shops, tutorial and review centers, shops offering personal grooming services and even drive-in cinemas can open up their doors once again starting August 1. This was announced by Department of Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon Lopez in a Teleradyo interview on July 29.
The decision has been formally approved by the Inter-agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases, provided these establishments operate at just 30% their normal capacity and follow strict health protocols. An official memorandum circular is yet to be released.
"Itong mga activities na isinasama natin ngayon ay dapat sa modified GCQ sila. Subalit hindi tayo umaabot sa modified GCQ kaya ito po ay mga rine-consider," noted the Trade Secretary. He added that like barbershops and restaurants offering dine-in services, the capacity may be bumped up to 50% provided they can follow health protocols.
"'Yong testing, tutorial, review center, gyms, fitness centers, and sports facilities," listed down Lopez, adding "Atsaka 'yong internet cafes." The last was a consideration for online learning.
As for grooming services, more shops have also been allowed to open. "Marami po dyan na franchise concept, ay in-allow na rin po. Sa nails, sa skincare, sa aesthetic," Lopez was quoted in an Inquirer.net report. Massage spas, on the other hand, have not been given the green light. "In this pandemic, talagang we will have to operate differently," said Lopez.
