Get Ready: The Biggest All-Filipino Book Fair Is Going Digital

(SPOT.ph) Nothing beats going through piles and piles of fresh reads in a massive, crowded book fair—but with a pandemic going on, a safer alternative would be to shop online. The Aklatan: All Filipino Book Fair is going online for their 2020 run, happening on Shopee from August 16 to 18. Spot reads from some of the biggest local publishers—a total of 35—at this annual book shopping festival.
You can cop rare copies and discover new authors and illustrators at this book fair. Be on the watch for popular fiction pieces from publishers such as Summit Media, or critically acclaimed novels from publishers such as Adarna House and Anvil Publishing, and update yourself on the discourse through works published by the presses of the University of the Philippines, University of Santo Tomas, Far Eastern University, Ateneo de Manila University, and Ateneo de Naga University. Hosted by the Book Development Association of the Philippines, the group "strongly believes that our local books are also essential and that readers can help revive the local publishing industry and support local literature," they said in a statement. Booksellers have also been hit pretty hard by the pandemic so fingers crossed this online book fair will help our local storytellers and publishers!
