LOOK: This Modern-Looking College Library Can Be Found in Sorsogon

Makes you wish you were a student here.

(SPOT.ph) For most students, the school library is an important place to expand their knowledge. It's where they go for additional readings, assignments, and research for thesis. Other libraries even give access to online journals that open doors to an abundance of information. At Sorsogon State College in Sorsogon City, the library is so modern-looking, you'd wish you're also enrolled there.

The school's new library was completed in 2019, but it recently caught the attention of many after Sorsogon State College (SSC) alumna Francy Dollison posted photographs of the facility on August 5 on Facebook. It has since earned more than 500 shares. The library was designed by John Salcedo Esller.

SSC was established as Sorsogon Trade School in 1907. Its name was changed to Sorsogon School of Arts and Trades in 1953, then Sorsogon College of Arts and Trades in 1976. It wasn't until 1993 when the school was converted into a state college with its main campus located at Magsaysay Street in Sorsogon City.

Department of Education secretary Leonor Briones announced that the new school year is set to open on August 24 in "whatever form it is" amid the COVID-19 pandemic. This is despite calls to delay the reopening as students and teachers face the lack of laptops and gadgets for distance learning. Briones on August 10 reaffirmed the agency's decision: "Walang sinabi ang Presidente na babaguhin ang date ng opening, ang alam niya, ang face-to-face classes will be in 2021."
