Pasig City Launches Free COVID-19 Testing for Residents
There will be 300 slots available on August 14.
(SPOT.ph) Five months into the quarantine, and proper mass testing for COVID-19 is yet to be achieved in the Philippines. But local government units have been stepping up to contain the virus as much as possible by funding tests for their residents, facilitating efficient contact tracing, and ramping up isolation facilities. Pasig City, for their part, is starting their own free testing for local residents on August 14, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., at Tanghalang Pasigueño, Pasig City Hall Complex.
Pasigueños are advised to call the testing hotlines 0928-291-1716 o 0928-291-1717 to reserve a slot. For now, only 300 residents will be entertained.
"Kung maayos bukas, araw-araw na ito. Kaya wag pumunta kung di nakapagpa-reserve. Baka ikansela natin ang proyekto kung dagsain ito at mawalan ng social distancing," Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto announced.
Pasig City's free testing will be using the Enhanced Chemiluminescence Immunoassay antibody test, where a sample of your blood is obtained for analysis. This method of screening checks for antibodies that your body has developed as an immune response a week or so after you've contracted the novel coronavirus or SARS-CoV-2. It promises 100% sensitivity and 100% specificity, according to The Medical City—a private hospital that's also using this test for their drive-thru centers.
"Iba pa 'to sa testing ng close contacts at may sintomas galing sa Operations Center hotline o health center," Sotto clarified.
