Local App Tops the Charts on Both Google Play Store and Apple App Store
Congratulations to Kumu!
(SPOT.ph) Streaming—whether a movie, series, music, or just yourself unboxing something—has gotten pretty huge lately. And if you're wondering just how popular, well, note that homegrown app Kumu is now at the top of the download charts for both Google Play and the Apple Store! Kumu has overtaken the top trending list on Android phones and the free apps category on iOS.

The streaming app was first launched in 2018 and is where Pinoys everywhere gather and talk about—as well as create—anything under the sun. "Kumu" is the shortened form of our typical "Kumusta?" greeting. The app has been steadily growing in popularity these past few months with more and more folks turning to streaming as a hustle they can do straight from home. And with the Pinoy penchant for leading everything social media—remember when we were dubbed the "Texting Capital" before cellphones were even a mainstream thing?—we're probably on the same track for streaming, too.
One of the app's founders, Roland Ros, took to Facebook to congratulate the team on October 19. The homegrown app was founded by Ros and his colleagues, Rexy Dorado, Andrew Pineda, and Clare Ros—all Filipino entrepreneurs who have worked in fields of technology and social enterprise. Anyone else itching to see where this Pinoy app goes?
