
(SPOT.ph) While Metro Manila shifts to Alert Level 3, Iloilo Province remains to be under Alert Level 2 until January 15 amid a surge of COVID-19 cases in the capital. But Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas wants to be proactive in curbing the threat of the Omicron variant among his constituents. On Monday, January 3, he announced that the local government unit is ready to provide RT-PCR tests through the Uswag Molecular Laboratory at the Jubilee Hall or Lapaz Plaza Gym to inbound travelers from the National Capital Region, Cebu, and Boracay for free.

"I expressed worry that cases may surge in the coming weeks following the holiday season and the influx of travelers. Pending the issuance of an Executive Order, in a meeting with the City COVID Team this January 3, the city is prepared to test those who would voluntarily want to do so," he said. He is also urging everyone in the city to get vaccinated or line up for booster shots if eligible.
