( While other people are comfortable striking up a conversation, not everyone likes small talk for various reasons. You may be too tired to talk about the weather, waiting for a call on your phone, have some gears turning in your head, or just not comfortable talking to a stranger. We get it. Some good news though, Grab Philippines is currently testing out a feature where you may opt to prompt the driver to keep the ride as small talk-free as possible.

About Grab Philippines' "Quiet" Mode

Selected users may have already received an auto-generated message right after booking that said, "For a conversation-free ride, please respond 'Quiet' to this message. You may ignore this if you have no preference," when the beta testing started on Monday, April 4. This is only "a trial to help [them] and [their] driver-partners understand [their] passengers' preferences," added the prompt.

Grab Philippines confirmed to that testing is tentatively scheduled to last until the end of June; and, depending on the feedback of customers, is set to be rolled out as a full product soon.

Do note that driver-partners may still talk to the passenger about things related to your booking, such as preferred route and other protocols.
