(SPOT.ph) Those looking to buy local, support Pinoy artisans, crafters, and entrepreneurs, or simply want to celebrate the Filipino talent, craftsmanship, and ingenuity, know to check out Global Pinoy Bazaar, an annual event where Philippine-made products are showcased and sold. The event has come and gone, but we went and picked our favorites so that you can check them out online, too.


1. Biyahe

Price range: P550 to P1,500

The patterns on Biyahe bags will immediately catch your eye; they are a quirky mix of Pinoy vibe and whimsy, deriving inspiration from all over the archipelago: the tribal jewelry of the people of the Cordillera, traditional Kalinga tattoos, and even Manila rush-hour traffic!




2. Linya Linya

Price range: P495/shirt

Talk about statement tees-Linya Linya shirts feature uniquely Pinoy statements that put our irreverent sense of humor, and penchant for puns and quotable quotes on full display. This is how you wear your Pinoy pride, on a shirt with something ingeniously funny and intrinsically Pinoy printed on it.

Manila Sole boasts of recycled, handmade, and eco-friendly shoes. The soles are made from recycled rubber from old tires, providing you with great comfort and a means of reducing your carbon footprint in style.

They’re entirely handcrafted (according to her Facebook account, they are cut, wrought, hammered, and filed by hand), but what makes them extra special is you can personalize them with hand-stamped messages!

6. Gouache


Price range: P750 to P3,500

Gouache makes beautiful handcrafted waxed-canvas and leather bags that are both functional and stylish. According to their website, Gouache bags are created for "the active, artistic urbanites and the adventure lovers," but they wouldn't be completely out of the place at school or the office either.




7. Shoes By Kai

Price range: P750 to P1,000

What makes Shoes by Kai footwear different is the use of indigenous materials like malong fabrics and handwoven fabrics from Ilocos to create modern and stylish shoes. Traditional Filipino materials meets modern shoe designs.





8.  Speyside

Price range: Roughly P300 (print) to P600 (framed)

Looking for an art print to hang on your wall? Check out Speyside's block prints. They're unique and fun. Plus, can you imagine the amount of work and level of skill it took to complete the blocks used to create these prints? Amazing!




9. Polarities

Price range: P200 to P350

Aside from the cool and edgy designs, what we love about these wood posters is what's actually printed on them. Taking their inspiration from street signs (Ice for Sale), street game rhymes (Langit, lupa, impyerno...), local, uh, cuisine (tuyo, galunggong), and the like, it speaks of the everyday things that define our culture and identity.
