Bureau of Immigration bans its officers from giving Christmas greetings to visitors at airports
Immigration Chief Ronaldo Ledesma has banned the bureau’s airport officers from offering Christmas greetings to visitors, the AP reported yesterday.
The AP said corrupt officials treat Christmas greetings as "a code for extortion requests." Thus, Ledesma said, saying "Merry Christmas" and the like may come off as a hint for tips or gifts. Instead, Immigration officers should smile warmly and provide efficient service, Ledesma said.
