Filipino-American writer and photographer Yen Baet won the grand prize in the National Geographic Exceptional Experiences Photo Contest last week, reports GMA News Online.

The only Filipino among the finalists, she bested five other contenders with the photo entitled "Rainy Night in Hallstatt." As part of her prize, Baet will go on a nine-day trip for two in Peru.

The winner was chosen based on the number of online votes from US residents. Baet, a Misamis Occidental native now based in England, blogged, "Those votes were definitely hard earned, and I can't stress that enough. Most of it came from people I don't even know and spurred on by genuine friends and family who believed that this was so important to me, enough for them not to ignore or consider trivial."

Prints of the photo, which she shot in Austria, are now available on her website.
