Greenbelt 5 welcomes a swanky new sweet spot this month as Makati Shangri-la's "sinful" patisserie unveils a luxurious collection of pralines, ganaches, bonbons, designer cakes, and freshly-baked pastries.
Out to prove they're serious about chocolate, Sinfully shows off two open kitchens that allow you to watch as pastry chefs whip up some of the shop’s drool-inducing creations. The scent of freshly made chocolate lingers in the air, and mind you, it’s the kind that triggers impulse buys (we have a sneaking suspicion they designed it this way). Chocolates in gorgeous shapes and colors are lined up and displayed dramatically inside a back-lit glass case like precious pieces of jewelry.
The storefront is a chocolate show: the Chocolate Room, a temperature-controlled room with floor-to-ceiling glass walls, shows a pastry chef making pralines on the spot. At the rear is another open kitchen where they make other tempting treats like French macarons (P45 each), cookies, specialty cakes, and bread (P80 to 225).
According to Makati Shangri-la’s Executive Pastry Chef, Anthony Collar, the patisserie aims to lure the occasional chocolate-buyer as well as those in the market for something extra special, i.e. artfully-designed cakes (P1,810) custom-made to show off some pretty elaborate handiwork by Sinfully's pastry artists.
Sinfully's pride is its flirty signature chocolate line named Kiss (P50 each) starring chocolate ganaches with a candy-coated veneer. The lip-shaped line combines flavors like white chocolate and star anise, dark chocolate and raspberry, and amaretto and coffee.
