(SPOT.ph) Straightforward breakfast food-that's what you get when you step inside the colorful, casual restaurant named Agahan along Metropolitan Avenue in Makati, a small neighborhood resto slowly earning nods from breakfast food fans.

Green, red, yellow, and blue chairs match placemats of the same color, but save for the walls painted in candy colors and the pop music blaring from the speakers, there's not much to distract you from your food: freshly cooked, satisfying breakfast fare that's meant to be enjoyed any time of the day.

The menu lists fuss-free plates, all under P150. The dishes come out of the kitchen hot and fresh off the stove as owner Adee Caluag says all the dishes are only cooked upon order. But don't expect fancy, exquisitely styled breakfast plates. Agahan is really all about your fave morning meal, served all day. Agahan's Ligaya's Tapa (P150), which arrives on your table plated with garlic rice, scrambled eggs, and instant coffee or hot tea, is, not surprisingly, a big crowd favorite. The dish's main attraction is its tender, tapa slices-neither too sweet nor too salty-and best paired with Agahan's suka from Laguna. Other bestsellers, says Caluag, include the Tocino Silog meal (P120), and the Bacon-silog meal (P120). Breads at Agahan are also a choice between multi-grain or whole wheat bread. Says Caluag, "It's the little things that count, I think. We try to go beyond your usual fastfood outlet."

Since they opened in November 2011, Agahan's fans have come to include the neighborhood's breakfast food fiends. Some pop in for a plate before heading to work while some executives from nearby offices have turned Agahan into an alternative meeting place: Agahan offers free Wi-Fi, has numerous power outlets, and serves a good cup of coffee.
