(SPOT.ph) The Caesar Salad - an international classic. The original recipe was tossed together in 1924 by an Italian restaurateur in Tijuana, Mexico. With whatever was left in his kitchen, Caesar Cardini whipped together eggs, olive oil, garlic, lemon juice, and Worchestershire sauce, along with lettuce, garlic, and some bread.
Worchestershire sauce is a processed fermented sauce that has anchovy notes, among other tastes. Today, real anchovies are often used for a fresher dressing. Aside from anchovies, there are variations and garnishes including mustard, capers, grilled meats and seafoods that further enhance the greens.
