(SPOT.ph) You can say that the retail scene in Manila was definitely a bustling one this year. From the British invasion (yup, it wasn't just all because of the One Direction, Sam Smith, and Ed Sheeran concerts, guys), to other international brands coming to Manila, and local brands launching their first store, we round up 25 exciting new stores that opened in Manila this year.
LEGO Certified Store
The very first LEGO store opened in May, much to the delight of the young and the young-at-heart. It's really LEGO heaven: The store carries exclusive collectors' sets and product lines unique to the LEGO Certified Store like Pick A Brick, where customers can buy LEGO bricks and pieces individually, and Build A Mini which allows them to create their own mini-figures by choosing headwear, head, torso, legs, and other accessories.

Also known as the artsy people's haven, Common Room opened in Katipunan in August and has since created a growing community for makers and art enthusiasts. The tiny space has been transformed into a spot where makers get to showcase their craft and where aspiring artists get to join workshops where they can discover art. It's a place where you can find unique, artsy products from homegrown brands that will really inspire you to create.

This U.S.-based specialty boutique has become a sneakerhead's haven in Manila since they opened their first store (first outside the U.S., even) in SM Aura in October. Commonwealth is a lifestyle brand that's been around for a decade and has since become a well-loved name among sneaker buffs and street style enthusiasts. They carry a variety of brands such as COMME des GARÇONS Play, Stüssy, Dime, and Adidas. It's a world of street, fashion, and sportswear brands, plus they carry exclusive, limited edition collections that would please any sneaker-loving heart.

Capital carries a variety of sought-after sneaker brands like Nike, Adidas, Puma, New Balance, Onitsuka Tiger, and Fred Perry. You can even score limited edition pairs, like the Nike Roshe NM Flyknit in Triple Black. But apart from kicks, they also exclusively carry European street brands like MiPac, Hype, and Cayler & Sons. The store carries a wide range of home products, all beautifully designed—from functional furniture, exquisite lighting, kitchen necessities, home accessories to statement pieces, you can find everything you need to build an effortlessly chic home.

West Elm, a home furnishings retailer based in Brooklyn, New York, opened the doors of its flagship store in Estancia Mall at Capitol Commons (their very first branch in the country) in June. The brand is known for helping homeowners express their personal style through a wide range of reasonably priced and approachable products all dressed in designs by independent artists and craft communities around the world.

The U.K. brand has found its way to Philippine shores, opening the doors of its first boutique in the country on the second level of Estancia Mall, Capitol Commons. The shop's design aesthetic is so intriguing (quite seductive, even), a glance is all it takes for you to want to enter the shiny new store.

The beauty brand has been around for two years but it wasn't until this year they opened their very own boutique, which is as pretty as their products (and their office!). The teal-and-pink store showcases their seasonal collections and crowd favorites on posh white shelves, almost like you're in a beauty museum. There's also a dedicated space for a "lips-spection" where you can sit to try on their lippies and other beauty products. Every corner looks like it was designed to make you happy.

It's a hive that's home to world-famous, 100% natural beauty and skincare products. The American personal care brand set up shop in Estancia Mall where they carry a wide range of truly natural products, from skincare to haircare to soaps, lotions, baby products and more.

What happens when you fuse a haberdashery with a place that caters to every man’s grooming and styling needs? You get a concept barbershop--or "barberdashery" in the words of Felipe & Sons. The Cut carries unique, high-quality products by local and international brands carefully selected by the owners. They carry a handful of brands for about a month or two, and feature a different set afterwards so that the store will always have something new to offer each time a customer comes back.

The first New Era cap store in Manila opened in July at SM Megamall. The renowned headwear brand is known for providing on-field caps for the Major League Baseball and National Football League, but they're also famous for working on newspaper and flapper cap designs with Marvel, Disney, Star Wars, Looney Tunes, DC Comics, Peanuts, Wu Tang Clan, Flintstones, Muhammad Ali, the National Hockey League, and the National Basketball Association. The store carries over 500 different styles inspired by well-known sports leagues and characters, which retail from P1,495 to P2,795.

The very first Dior flagship store in the country opened its doors in SM Makati in July, to the excitement of beauty girls all around Manila. The luxury fragrance, skincare, and makeup brand's boutique carries the brand's bestselling products as well as Dior's current collections.

This year, Legazpi Street became home to a men's specialty boutique called Signet. The vintage-looking boutique has an Old World charm to it with a contemporary twist. It's a Zalora shop IRL, where you can browse through their well-curated fashion line, including homegrown and international brands. For those who are a bit iffy about online shopping because you're not sure if you're getting the right size or if the quality is good, the Zalora pop-up is the answer to your prayers.

Bagaholics rejoiced when Longchamp opened their very first stand-alone boutique in Greenbelt this year. It's basically a Le Pliage-lover's haven! The store carries everything, from their well-loved and now-iconic Le Pliage to their newest collaborations, it's a bag lover's dream come true.

Banila Co. opened their very first Manila store in Glorietta, making Korean beauty (that dewy look you've always wanted) achievable. They carry products from primers to foundations to gel eyeliners to CC creams and makeup cleansers...it has everything a makeup lover needs.

The brand may have been around for a while, but Ralph Lauren actually just opened their first boutique in the country in April. The flagship store takes up a 3,000-square meter space in Greenbelt 3 and, well, it's beautiful: Its facade is inspired by Vigan’s Spanish Renaissance style and features limestone floors, touches of mahogany, and white columns—which actually resemble the ones in Ralph Lauren's own home.

Te Amo Floristeria
Flower shop and floral design studio has found a home in Bonifacio Global City when they launched their flagship store in the latter part of 2015. Te Amo Floristeria is a specialty flower shop that's known for creating beautiful floral arrangements that last for years.
