(SPOT.ph) Those looking for an affordable quad-camera phone are in for a major surprise. At a launch event held on October 3 at the City of Dreams, Realme dropped the Realme 5 series. The top-end model, the Realme 5 Pro, has specs that can rival the mid-range models of more established brands. The top-spec 5 Pro (P13,990) is powered by the speedy Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 chip, which offers better battery life, mobile AI support, and faster media and gaming performance.

The Realme 5 Pro’s 6.3-inch FHD+ screen has a 90.8% screen-to-body ratio, which means there’s a whole lot more screen to use for browsing, videos, social media, photography, and games. Giving the screen additional drop protection is the recently-introduced Gorilla Glass 3+. Aside from that, the phone comes with splash resistance.

The Realme 5 Pro’s most outstanding feature is its quad-camera lens, which is unheard of for its price segment. The quad-camera array has a 48-megapixel Sony IMX586 main shooter with 1.8 aperture for low light, a two-megapixel macro lens, a three-megapixel wide-angle lens, and a two-megapixel portrait lens, so almost all photographic conditions are covered. The 5 Pro’s quad cameras pretty much delivered when tested in challenging situations such as extreme closeups, high-resolution, lowlight, and wide-angle shots. Previously, only expensive flagships have this quad-camera setup. The 16-megapixel front camera is no slouch either, so you can take bright and blur-free selfies even at nighttime or low-light conditions. Plus, you can also shoot 4K videos with this phone.

Boosting Realme 5 Pro’s features is a VOOC 3.0 fast charger, which can charge 50% of the 4035 mah battery in just 30 minutes. Every phone comes with a pre-installed screen protector and a protective case in the box. Plus, the Realme 5 Pro comes in two striking colors: Crystal Green and Sparking Blue, with holographic texture at the back to boot.

A sub-10,000-peso version of the phone, the Realme 5, is also available. It also has a quad-camera array with a 12-megapixel main camera, powered by a Snapdragon 665 chip, and has a 6.5-inch screen.

The prices of all the Realme 5 and 5 Pro variants are as follows:

  • Realme 5 Pro (4GB+128GB) P11,990
  • Realme 5 Pro (8GB+128GB) P13,990
  • Realme 5 (3GB+32GB) P6,990
  • Realme 5 (4GB+64GB) P7,990
  • Realme 5 (6GB+128GB) P9,990
