Make sure to follow their safety protocols!

(SPOT.ph) Today, May 16, is officially the first day of modified enhanced community quarantine—and that means some businesses are allowed to resume operations, including malls, albeit “partially.” Metro Manila malls are beginning to reopen but not without strict implementation of health and safety protocols.

Because shoppers' safety is a priority, SM malls are implementing a no mask, no entry policy. They also have thermal cameras in all entrances, disinfectant mats for your feet, and alcohol and hand sanitizer dispensers. Shoppers will also have to practice physical distancing at all times. When riding escalators, people should be one step apart while only 50% of elevator capacity will be used to ensure proper physical distancing. One-way movement will also be followed. When picking up food in restaurants, chairs will be spaced out. Even at the parking lot, motorcycles must be parked in every other slot.

In Metro Manila, only Ayala Malls Cloverleaf will open today, but malls like Trinoma, UP Town Center, Glorietta, Greenbelt, Ayala Malls The 30th, Ayala Malls Feliz, Alabang Town Center, Fairview Terraces, and more are slated to reopen on Monday, May 18. They are also implementing guidelines like temperature check in all entrances, required use of face masks, maintaining proper physical distancing (at least one meter apart), two-people limit inside elevators, and following escalator markers, among others. They are also requiring their staff to wear proper protective gear and sanitizing escalator handrails regularly to maintain cleanliness.

Megaworld Lifestyle Malls

Megaworld Lifestyle Malls announced yesterday that they are reopening most of their Metro Manila malls today, including Eastwood Mall, Eastwood Citywalk, and The Clubhouse at Temple Drive in Quezon City; Lucky Chinatown in Binondo, Manila; Three Central Mall, Paseo Center, and San Lorenzo Place Mall in Makati City; California Garden Square in Mandaluyong City; and The Village Square Alabang in Las Piñas City. These are the safety protocols that are being implemented: thermal scanning and foot bath mandatory for all guests at all entrances, face masks required for mall staff and customers, physical distancing of three feet apart, only guests aged 21 to 59 will be allowed (must present IDs upon entry), dine-in not allowed in all establishments, and WiFi temporarily unavailable to avoid long stays. Megaworld Lifestyle Malls have also installed disinfection chambers as well as alcohol and hand sanitizer dispensers around their retail space. A sanitation squad is deployed at all times to deep clean door handles, handrails, restrooms, and common areas, while escalator handrails are disinfected using UV light. Pick-up counters and drive-thru stations are also in place for takeout orders and deliveries. All parking cards are also sanitized before deployment at card dispensers. Guests are also encouraged to use cashless transactions to minimize contact.
