(SPOT.ph) We're weeks away from the big reveal of Samsung's latest updates to their flagship Galaxy S smartphone series. The tech giant wowed customers in 2021 with the Galaxy S21 which introduced the first S model (the S21 Ultra) to ever feature the compatible stylus known as the S Pen, which most commonly associated with the Note series. Whether or not we'll be seeing a new Galaxy Note this year is still up for debate, but signs have been pointing to no. More likely, the Galaxy S22's largest model will be the Note's official successor (or so the rumors suggest), sporting the latter's wide-screen construction as well as its S Pen-compatible hardware. Samsung has yet to unveil any of the smartphones from the upcoming S22 line, but of course, industry experts and insiders are doing the most to give consumers an idea of what to expect. Most recently, journalist and known gadget leakers Rolan Quandt revealed via Twitter the possible price list of the Galaxy S22 series.

How Much the Samsung Galaxy S22 Series Will Cost, According to Tech Insiders

Most experts seem to agree that the Galaxy S22 series will include three models (the S22, the S22+, and the S22 Ultra), following the blueprint set by previous S-series smartphones. Tom’s Guide has noted possible screen sizes for each: 6.06 inches for the S22, 6.5 for the Plus, and 6.8 for the Ultra with the former two having 8 GB of RAM and the latter being available in 8, 12, and 16GB RAM models.

According to Quandt, the Galaxy S22 will start at U.K. €849 (roughly P49,187) for the 128 GB model—a substantial increase from the S21’s starting price of U.K. €769 (roughly P44,552). For context, the S21 had a starting price of P47,990 in the Philippines upon release, which is a few grand above the conversion price. If Quandt's leak is to be believed, expect the S22's local starting price to be somewhere in the lower end of the P50,000 range.

Quandt notes that the increase in prices is likely due to the constraints brought about by the pandemic as well as inflation and a worldwide shortage in parts needed to make smartphones. The leaker's predictions for the S22 Ultra are particularly noteworthy as his estimates show that each Ultra variant will have a price difference of at least U.K. €100 (P5,793) with the 512 GB model going above the P80,000 mark whereas the largest S21 Ultra model was priced at P79,990.

S22
128 GB: U.K. €849 (roughly P49,187)
256 GB: U.K. €899 (roughly P52,086P

S22+

256 GB: U.K. €1,099 (roughly P63,674)

The Samsung Galaxy S22 series is expected to be unveiled this February, but no official date for the February Unleashed event has been announced. For now, keep your eyes peeled and start saving up!
