After his weeklong US trip, President Noynoy Aquino returned to the Philippines on September 28 and brought home pasalubong for his sisters and girlfriend, Valenzuela Councilor Shalani Soledad. According to GMANews.tv, Aquino remained mum about his gift for Soledad ("It’s a secret.") but was more forthcoming about his pasalubong for his sisters. The President said he bought "one chocolate," as phrased by GMANews.tv, for each of the families of his sisters Kris, Ballsy, Pinky and Viel. "My nieces and nephews will have to share the chocolates," he said in Filipino.
Aquino told GMANews.tv that he did not buy toys for his three-year-old celebrity nephew, Baby James. Apparently, the toys that Baby James liked were not available in the US. "I think I’ll just look for those in Manila," the president said.
For the Philippines, Aquino got a $434 million grant from the Millennium Challenge Corporation for social welfare programs, according to GMANews.tv. He said the Philippine delegation also secured $2.4 billion in investments and "a commitment of at least 43,650 new jobs in the next three years."
