Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver separate
(SPOT.ph) Former California Governor and actor Arnold Schwarzenegger and his wife Maria Shriver have announced in a statement that they are separating, reports Reuters. They said they are living separately "while (they) work on the future of (their) relationship," but did not indicate whether or not they would get divorced.
According to Reuters, the joint statement reads: "This has been a time of great personal and professional transition for each of us... After a great deal of thought, reflection, discussion, and prayer, we came to this decision together."
They added, "We are continuing to parent our four children together. They are the light and the center of both of our lives... We consider this a private matter, and neither we nor any of our friends or family will have further comment. We ask for compassion and respect from the media and the public."
Schwarzenegger, 63, and Shriver, 55, met in 1977 and got married in 1986, according to Reuters. The Terminator star, who left office in January after serving as California governor for two terms, recently said he is developing a TV show and comic book based on his political moniker "The Governator."
