Agence France-Presse (AFP), via, reports that Denny Indrayana, Indonesian deputy minister for justice and human rights, confirmed to news portal that "the Indonesian official who allegedly bribed Kitsch has been identified and we are now in the process of interrogating him." Indrayana added: "He will be sanctioned if he is found guilty of asking for a bribe."


In the March 1 broadcast on The Late Show With David Letterman, Kitsch had unthinkingly assented when Letterman asked him if he had gone to the Philippines to shoot the Oliver Stone film Savages.


The AFP report noted: "Indonesia ranked 100th of 182 countries on Transparency International’s annual corruption index." By contrast a 2011 report revealed that the Philippines ranked 129th in the said corruption index.
