(SPOT.ph) Since the legendary Hokkaido Ramen, Ramen Santouka, opened in February and the confirmation that famous Hong Kong ramen spot Butao is set to launch this October, rumors have circulated that another giant noodle chain, Japan’s Ippudo, will allegedly follow suit and install a branch in the Philippines before the year ends.
Ippudo will reportedly be brought in by a group who runs a very successful local restaurant chain, says a source. Ippudo opened in 1985 in Fukuoka City (also the birthplace of another popular ramen brand, Ikkoryu Fukuoka). Since then, they’ve expanded to numerous branches in Japan and partnered with Nissin for a cup-noodles version. Internationally, they’ve opened shop in Singapore, South Korea, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Taiwan, China, New York, and Australia. And, if rumors are to be believed, the Philippines may just become one of the privileged few on that list.
