PNP discovers some Metro Manila police stations fake reports on crime statistics

Now, isn’t this a crime, too?

News5 correspondent Dindo Flora (via reports that some officials of police precincts in Metro Manila were found to have submitted fake and altered reports on the number of crime incidents in their areas by the intelligence division of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

According to the report, police stations in Mandaluyong, Sampaloc in Manila and Pasay were among the precincts "found to have declared numbers different from that of crime incidents recorded in police blotters from January to June this year." The Cubao police station in Quezon City posted the largest gap between its declared number of crime incidents and the actual figures. Police officials in Cubao claim only 429 crime incidents happened in their area when there were actually 1,143.

National Capital Region Police Office director Chief Superintendent Marcelo Garbo said police officials proven to have falsified crime incidence reports will be charged with administrative cases and may possibly face dismissal.
