He might not have gotten a medal, but he sure won our hearts.

Interaksyon.com reports that Filipino figure skater Michael Christian Martinez is set to receive a $10,000 bonus from business mogul Manuel V. Pangilinan for his impressive performance in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia.

According to the report, Pangilinan will course through the monetary reward for Martinez through the MVP Sports Foundation (MVPSF), which helped fund the 17-year-old athletes' trip to the Games. MVPSF executive director Chot Reyes said on Twitter that he "already emailed Martinez' mother about the bonus."

Martinez made history by becoming the first athlete from a Southeast Asian country to compete in the Winter Olympics. He capped off his stint in Sochi by placing 19th among a pool of 24 contenders in the men's figure skating event.

The young skater said his next goal is to compete in the 2018 Winter Games in South Korea.
